Default Intermittent 4WD

Suddenly my 4wd seems to engage when it wants. Meaning the front axle is engaging every time I put the transfer case in 4wd. The transfer case is shifting fine and I can tell the front drive shaft is spinning but the front axle only engages once in a while. I engaged it this morning and it went in. Took it out and then it wouldn't go back in. The actuator and metal lines were replaced about 2 years ago, I did notice that the vent fitting on top of the actuator housing is not connected to a vent hose. Could water be getting in and causing the actuator not to operate properly? I think I'm going to start by checking vacuum at the axle and see what it is. It should be about 20 correct? If its not them I guess i'l check intake vacuum. If I remember correctly there is a switch on the transfer case that is vacuum actuated and that engages the front axle?

Thanks for any suggestions

17-20.

On mine, it was because the rubber connector at the CAD was a sloppy fit. Couple zip ties to prevent the leakage, and now it works flawlessly.

Everything else worked the way it was supposed to, and the numbers were good..... I could tell it didn't fit well... there were zip ties on it when I got it... and that one was gone. I have a supply though.
