hello I have a 99 ram 318 5speed when I got the truck the speedo didn't work....I got underneath an found out that the abs wires goin into the rear end was cut...so I spliced em back together an now it starts to work after I hit bout 30 or so....is it the speed sensor on the tranny or wut?

 

Check your splices to make sure they are good. If they are, replace the sensor.

 

I'm pretty sure the splice is good so the sensor is bad? Unless there is another break in the wires to the abs?

 

Nah, that is fairly standard behavior for a failing sensor. Cheap and easy to replace as well.

 

When I had a bad rear wheel speed sensor (on top of the rear differential) the abs and brake light were on and the speedometer didn't work until I hit about 30mph.

 

Yea mine wasn't workin at all until I spliced the wires goin to the sensor on top of the rear end now it starts workin at bout 30
