Default strange brake noise

I think I am in the right section here, I have a 99 3500 dual wheel, V-10, 4wheel drive, ABS brakes. Just had a big brake job with new lines cause old were rotted. Seems fine but first day driving home I hit the brakes a little firm and heard a noise that sounded like a motor powering down or something, a whirr or a whoosh, only a few seconds. I got it to do it 4 or 5 times but couldn't get it to do it the next day, so I guess it's ok. Hey You directed me to the right section and said it might be the motor controller for the abs. Any thoughts on that? thanks. One other question. There is provision for a second battery. Should I put it in? As you can tell I don't know much about vehicles, but I read something where one battery might drain the other. Thanks for any answers.

If you have a lot of electrical 'stuff' on your truck, (aftermarket, not factory) or, have a habit of sitting listening to the radio with the engine off, another battery wouldn't hurt ya. You just need a dual battery isolator to prevent the two from discharging each other while the truck sits.

Take your truck out to some nice, straight road. (dirt would be nice too....) Run it up to about 35 mph, and STAND on the brake pedal. Hear the same noise? That's you ABS kicking in.
