Default Bad Flex plate or loose bolts ?

1996 1500 4x4 5.2

I got a small vibration issue . Not drivetrain related . Seems to be there once warmed up . Only in gear . Every now and then , i get clicking noise but not loud , along with the vibration . Worst is felt in 1st gear , it's very slight after that . I don't seem to feel much when it's cold and not warmed right up . Nothing on park or neutral no matter what temp or RPM .

Truck only has 46K but the trans had been rebuilt at some point . Kinda hoping it's just loose bolts . Removing a trans is not something I should be doing right now . I had a guy pull in front of me while I was doing 70 just 7 months ago . I've got some nerve issues . I will , don't get me wrong , but , it would be real nice to avoid . Fingers crossed .

Yes , going to pull the cover in a few hours and see what I can see . I've just never has this issue before , maybe someone can who's had this issue can comment and confirm my worst fears .

May not be a trans issue at all. Might just be a slight miss. How old are the O2 sensors? Does the problem go away if you unplug the front one?

Still original as far as I can tell . 99% sure an 02 is not my issue . It doesn't feel engine related . When it happens , it's more like something is off balanced . Sometimes I get that click/clunk like a bolt head hitting .

No miss . New plugs , wires , brass cap and rotor . There before and after . Great mpg's for this truck too . I'm gonna pull 500 miles from this tank .

Test the O2 anyway.

02 unplugged . Ran for 25 miles . No change in issue , just performance . Plugged back in (wait for exhaust to cool next time ) . Triggered CEL cleared .

I probably won't get a look at the flex plate now till morning . Will post up my findings , and get pics if anything is spotted , possibly a video of the noise . Pretty sure my issue is under that cover .

Flex plate not the issue either . All tight , no cracks . NO marks of anything hitting .

Since being under the truck while running , I think it might be time to cut the cat . The catalyst does seem a little loose , enough to cause the faint knocking for sure . I've already made up the pc to go in . Hopefully this does it .

Whack it with a rubber mallet a couple times, and see if you hear anything interesting.

Did that with my hand . Not terrible but the catalyst is broken from the shell . Failed it failed IMO . Gotta go

I already made up the pipe to replace the cat . Not going to be a fun job . I'm not a great welder and it's pretty tight under there . I figure on fitting it , and just tack the pass side (highest of 2) Then pull it out to get a good weld . The other I can tackle on the truck , I think , lol . The rear 02 I have a cheater for .

Cat was toasted . Rattled like a rock in a can when I pulled it . Didn't expect it at only 46K

Hopefully that cures it
