It's all about the tune.
Proof of this? I find it hard to believe a stock magnum bottom end can handle that much boost. Not doubting, just saying... 5-6 ibs is all Ive ever heard of people running with no issues.

IMO, with higher compression, I doubt the block would crack before the crank or rods.

We will have to agree to disagree on this I'm thinking hahah.

Dude.... These engines are tough. They aren't the most powerful and they suck fuel. But they are tough as nails.

Idk anything about how much boost these things can hold. I just know they are tough.

Head on over to the Dakota R/T site and look/ask around. I've never heard of a stock crank or rod breaking, but have heard of stock blocks splitting. Hell, the pistons will go before the crank or rods....

Numerous guys spraying 150 shot on a stock bottom end for years...No problem. The weak link on the bottom end are the rod bolts and on the top end....Weak valve springs, two piece valves and cracked heads.

Again, the key is a good tune, none of this was possible prior to the SCT, and there only a few guys out there whom can REALLY make it work.

EDIT: Here's quote from one of the SCT tuners, FlyinRyan "I've run 16 psi on a Magnum with 1008s and it held just fine....was a stock crank/rod setup even".

6500+ the stock rods stretch
6500+ The main caps should use a stud kit

Info on broken cranks can be found on forabodiesonly and more sites. As I said they are strong but not indiscutable like you are saying.

According to Ryan Johnson, (Shady Dell Speed Shop) main stud girdles don't do much and he would know, some guys run one, I don't....I shift at 6800 on my Dakota, always have even with the stock bottom 360, and
anything can and will break, but how many 360 cranks are out there still going strong...? A billion....?

The stock cranks are a hell of a lot stronger that Eagle cast cranks, I think we can agree on that.

Really, how much abuse a rotating assembly can take, even forged, depends on the tune....
