Default Truck dies when i put it in gear!!!

So my truck will start and idle fine but when i put it in gear to leave to will die and not start, if i come back and try again about a hour later it will start, when i put her in gear she will almost die but catch herself and idle like ****. I've had guys tell me Iac, coolant temp sensor, needs full tune up, change tranny fluid. Any ideas, help would be appreciated.

Start by cleaning the throttle body, paying particular attention to the IAC well. See if that doesn't help.

Getting any codes?

crankshaft sensor...

my buddys 99 did the same thing. swapped the crank sensor, and it fixed the issue.

No codes, I'm going to do a tune up and clean the tb and iac and see where that gets me.

i have also noticed a blue tint to my exhaust, wondering if that has to do with something with the iac.

Probably not your issue but do make sure the battery cables are nice and tight, they will screw with you if they're not...

That's an oil control problem. Most likely the plenum gasket, but in any case something's letting engine oil into the combustion chambers. That'll destroy your catalytic converter, and if not addressed before then, might also cause a cracked cylinder head.

For the original problem, just a thought: Try starting the thing and just letting it sit there to idle without doing anything else. If somewhere between 30 seconds and two minutes later it starts running like crap, it's most likely your pre-cat oxygen sensor giving up the ghost.

There are lots of things that'll cause the symptom you've got, but that's an easy one to check.

I second the Crankshaft sensor stated by Redneck_Ram, I had the same dilemma. I'd be pulling out of my driveway, switch her from Reverse to Drive, and she'd stall out on me right there.

So the other day i took the tb off and cleaned it and all the sensors on it, put it back together and it ran fine for a couple of days and then it started dieing when i put it in gear again, also it just started doing this after i put a cold air intake on it.

dude, have you not read the advice from above about it likely being your crank sensor? listen to these guys, they know what they are talking about
