Headlight wire assembly
I know there's a wiring assembly you can buy for our trucks to run higher output lights, LEd's and such. LMC has a heavy duty headlight harness 55-9505. Does that sound correct? The catalog says the harness can't be ran with day running lights and I have those on my truck. Anybody run a harness for higher output lights? I'm looking to run LED bulbs that's the source of my question.
Pretty sure any replacement LED headlight would have less wattage and therefore draw less amps than even a standard replacement halogen bulb, negating a need for an HD harness. FWIW the LMC is a decent option for the money and does in fact produce a noticeable gain in light output. Make sure to do your research on LED lights as well. I bought a pair of fogs off eBay and they turned out to be for nothing more than decoration.
I figured since LED lights draw less power that I wouldn't need a harness but I see everyone say to install one so I was confused. I'll watch out for bad LED's too....to be totally clear I would get that harness if I ran ex. Sylvania silver star headlights or a higher drawing headlight? That's my understanding now
DRL? Sorry don't know the acronym there...you mean day running lights? I don't think ND requires them. Quite a bit of vehicles that don't have them. Never seen anyone get in trouble for them.
Yep, Daytime Running lights. Quite frankly, I don't think I have ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for not having them working on vehicles that came with them......
