4HI slow to engage.
So it is really icy and cold here in Texas so today I was having to shift into 4HI a few times. The problem was it would take several seconds to engage. Like 10-20 seconds. I feel like it should be almost instant. Especially when I need it right then. Is there a solution to this..?
Check for vacuum leaks. It DOES take a couple seconds though...... Biggest problem I had on mine was at the actuator on the cad itself. The connector had stretched out, and didn't seal well. Couple zip strips pull tight, and it is much quicker now.
Sometimes the system on your trucks do take a long time to engage when its cold.
I use my truck for plowing and on very cold days when we have a storm I leave the 4x4 on for the whole time because it takes so long.
Front wheel movement also helps it engage

Mine will take a while the first time i use it since last winter. More i use it the faster it gets. I had an issue with water getting in one of vac lines along the frame. It rusted it up to the point no vacuum could got through.
Yeah, last year, mine collected enough moisture, which subsequently froze.... and no 4x4.... had to put it in the garage, point the salamander at it, run it for a while, then blow out the lines. Works much better now....
