Friday morning I hit the high-way and reached 75...then I slowly lost more and more speed until I could barely hold 35. STUPID CAT! Limped home (and hit EVERY LAST traffic light), cut a whole in it and ripped out the material...I had a frozen lake to get that morning you know.

Shouldn't have had the cat been gunked up with oil and other residue? Other than a little bit on the very bottom was there any discoloration, the rest was clean and clear. I don't know why it clogged, but it started rattling pretty badly before closing up. is it possible it just broke in half and the honeycomb no longer aligned? Didn't seem like there is enough room for that to happen though.

Didn't you just replace the cat with a new one?

No, I've been wrapping and putty'ing the crap out of the exhaust system. But NOW I'll replace from end to end.
