Default 5.9 problems

I have a 96 1500, I have a problem with it and I can't figure out what it is. When the truck is warm and I'm driving I'll get up to about 50 and the whole truck will start to shake. When this happens I hit the over drive button and the shake stops. The check engine light is on and I think it's for a MAF sensor but I'm not sure if that's the problem. Has this happened to anybody else or does anybody know what it is? Email me with answers.

This is the tell-tale sign of a blown plenum (aka intake manifold gasket). The vacuum leak caused by the trashed gasket will cause a slight misfire in the engine that is magnified when in overdrive. Go on ebay or to hughesengines.com and get the aluminum plate and new gasket to replace your current one. There's plenty of info on here about this issue. It's a fairly straightforward repair if you're mechanically inclined.

Thanks! That makes so much sense. I never thought of that I'll check the gaskets tomorrow.

No it's not a death wobble. It's the whole truck not just the front end.

It's a miss. (engine.) Feels like the truck is trying to shake itself apart? Yup.

Need to check the plenum, (which it probably is bad) then fix it, and do a complete tune-up as well. Read thru the stickied plenum thread, lots of good info there.
