Default 2nd Gen ram 1500 2000

Im having some real troubles with my 46re transmission. What started all of this was my front pump seal went out so i pulled the tranny replaced it and wound up breaking the pump so i replaced it put it back in and it wouldnt move so pulled it again and come to find out the torque conveter caused the seal to go bad got one put it now im wondering if there is any way for me to check if it is going to get fluid flow threw the line before i put it back in.

any info would be great thanks

If you had a torque converter fail, then all that stuff went thru the trans. Just replacing the t/c, and pump, isn't going to clean the rest of the crap out of your trans. Chances are good, that it isn't going to last long.

I am unsure if you can spin the t/c by hand (with the trans in gear, and full of fluid) and expect anything to happen....... Never tried it.

Why did the seal fail? Is the t/c snout scored, or some such?

It sounds like you are not familiar with putting in torque converters. You should feel it go in twice until it's correctly installed. Once will line up the splines and the second will be the pump. The two tangs on the tc drive the pump. If it wansn't installed correctly no telling what got screwed up. Did you turn the pump manually to see if it turns ok? You may have damaged the new pump. You should have about 3/8-1/2 and inch clearence between the tc and flex plate if it's installed correctly before you bolt them together.

no the snout was fine but the bushing behind the seal was burned up and dug into the pump housing a little bit

I don't think there is any good way to test it, without some expensive equipment....

Pumps are cheaper than entire transmissions. Be careful about that pump!
