Yes he does and MSD does not make one but Accel does. And as posted need better wires to go with that coil. Get a set of MSD super conductor wires to match.

Edit; Every Time this timing gear Dot to Dot 12 and 6 and tdc rotor pointing at jug one subject comes up it is just a hash out and just a mess for the op to understand. So much better to send them to the FSM and let them read it out of the book. It's all right there in print and get this it has photos/diagrams (kool), not this way or that way.

I've read it both ways. Some say it's a stock fit, but they do sell an adapter.

I wound up getting whatever coil the local auto parts had, plugged it in and it started up no problem. I only let it run for a minute or so because I don't have the belt on, but I'll give it more time tomorrow.

I want to thank everyone for all your help. It's been very helpful.

They changed the shape of the plug in 1998, even MSD's web site shows no coil for the 2003 or adapter from MSD. MSD coil part number 8228 is a direct fit for 1997 and under no adapter is needed for the wiring.

I'm glad you got it running.
I recently picked up the Davis Screamin' Demon coil and wires, came with the adapter harness.

Stay away from Accel coils, I had one and it left me stranded! Was only little over a year old. I have heard some of the same stories about some of the aftermarket coils.

I've heard nothing good about these coils. I think the best I've heard was a little over a year of life but most are dieing out in less than 6 months.

I'm just going to keep with the cheap-o I just put on. If it stops working again, maybe I'll look into something better.

Thanks again for everybody's help.

Accel coils are indeed ****, and I never said to get one I posted they make an wiring adapter. As for the MSD coil, going strong here for 4+ years.
