1995 Dodge Ram Oil Pan Removal

Default 1995 Dodge Ram Oil Pan Removal

I am stuck, I am trying to get the oil pan out of my 1995 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.2 AT 4WD, I got the bolts out, and it comes down some but the front of the oil pan is hitting the frame now and I cant get it to come down any further, I am no expert and now I am stuck, any advice anyone ?

If you Jack the from up some you should be able to clear the front axle

You might have to loosen the 2 big engine mount bolts and jack up the motor. It also might want to catch on the pickup tube also so be aware of that.

Need to pull the starter, and dust shield off the trans as well, then you can drop the back down, pull it toward the rear of the truck some, and it will come right out. I didn't have to jack mine up at all. (but, mine sits a little higher stock too....)

OK so the oil pan is loose now where is the safest place to jack against, I dont want to tear somethin up.

Jacking up the frame might let the axle
drop enough for the pan to clear.
I'd try this before unbolting the motor mounts
and jacking up the engine.

i didnt have to jack anything up on my 01 1500. pan came right off. its a tight fit, but it works.

Got her done, I did have to lift the engine about an inch or so.
