Default Which governor pressure sensor kit to buy

Looks like I'll be replacing the governor pressure sensor on my 1996 46re. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to purchase a kit with the pan gasket and all the sensors? I'm leaning toward this one as it is the least expensive I could find at the moment.

All advice is welcome

"cheap" and "heavy duty" are mutually exclusive terms. Those are just stock electronics, (and not even all of the internal ones), the 'heavy duty' parts are the springs and such.

Borg Warner makes a REAL heavy duty governor pressure solenoid, that I do believe is even self-cleaning. (which the stock piece, is not.) Seller ElectricalAdvantage on ebay has the solenoid/sensor set for 100 bucks. Figure to spend another 100 on TCC and O/D solenoids, and 20-30 for the filter and gasket. (not to mention the six quarts of fluid you should have on hand.....) I wouldn't worry about the other stuff that comes in that particular kit, unless it was actually bad...... Output speed sensor rarely actually fails.

Should I replace the Overdrive Solenoid while I'm in there since it is included in the kit Onegoodmason suggested? Overdrive works fine now.

Good points HeyYou. I wasn't enticed by the heavy duty, just wanted to pick everything up in a kit instead of buying separate and paying more.

The kit wasn't 'everything' though.

If you haven't gotten any codes for the TCC or O/D solenoids.... you can skip them. (they can be a pain to replace) Of course, better be on the lookout for Mr. Murphy though. If you see him, SHOOT FIRST!! Don't bother with questions.

I have only had to replace one of them one time on my 01 Ram 2500 diesel. I got the solenoid and modulator together from Rock auto. The price was reasonable and when I got them and opened the box they were original Mopar parts. OEM doesn't mean much with a part that has so many issues but at least I knew it definitely wasn't any worse than I would get from the dealer.

I bought a kit from Cascade Transmissions. When I dropped the pan this weekend, I was greeted with a pile of steel shavings under the filter in addition to the normal black sludge on the magnet. Some shavings were the size of fingernail clippings.

Sinking feeling in my gut.

I went ahead with the gov. solenoid replacement, and buttoned it back up and filled with clean fluid. The trans shifts fine now, but I would guess that it is not long for the world.
