Okay I replaced the fan clutch and it's still heating up pretty good under a load. I bought a new T stat but all they had was 180s. So I'm gonna put it in.

You're saying that your one truck is representative of all of them?

If I were to make that same logical mistake, I'd say that the second generation Ram is just about the finest vehicle ever made.

Remember to drill to small 1/8 holes in the T-stat to make burping easier

Okay I got a update. I did the new clutch fan. Once I got the old on off it was completely free spinning. And I also changed the air filter I looked at the old on and it was completely clogged with black dirt. And I also washed out the overflow. I know the overflow doesn't mean much. But it was completely full of bugs and gel looking stuff at the bottom. The radiator fluid looks really good. I even tested it. But the overflow was nasty I'm not sure why. I wasn't sure if the rad sucked fluid back up from there or just overflow. But I was running at 215ish. With each little thing the truck is running cooler and cooler. The clutch fan helped alittle then I did a air filter acouple days after and it helped alittle. I'm going to do fluid changed and a tstat here next week. The truck is running about 200 consistent now. Alot better then 215. I beleive with the truck only having 56k original miles and being a 94 it definitely was not ran alot. It was garage kept so there is absolutely no rust even being a Pennsylvania truck. But alot of the things didn't get used often I think. Is there a place I can post pictures. It's a beautiful truck. It's a pearly color that changes with the light

Then unlearn that right quick. The overflow reservoir matters a lot. It's not just puddle prevention.

I have a 195 stat in mine, and the gauge sits right at about 200 90% of the time.

That is your fault not the trucks. You replace the stock t-stat with a cooler one and want to blame the truck? You now need to install a resister to make the computer think it is at operating temps. I'm sure there is a How To some where on the internet.

Just because you have had to replace wear items doesn't make your truck picky. Wear items are just that, they wear out over time. 20 year old rig is going to need maintenance and if you're hard on it is going to need more than normal.

I remember a guy who had lifetime brake pads installed on his truck. Even when he heard the grinding noises he kept driving his truck until 2 of the 4 wheels locked up and it had to be flat bedded into our shop.

Wildman4x4nut, One I know why I am getting the code, 2 a motor is wearable item maybe after 300,000 miles not at 164,000, Plus my truck had never been ragged out never seen off road. this rig was a pavement puppy all its life, I have only ever used royal purple in the truck, Motor and Trans. and the motor just gave up, at 164,000. funny thing is I also have a 2 second owned 1987 GMC pick up with a about 280,000 on the original motor and trans purres like a kitten and only puffs a little smoke during start up. Oh and By the way I know when my breaks are bad and know how to fix them also.

I was just making a point and you only edited the part you seen fit, Yes these trucks are PICKY in every way. Just look at all the post on here from everyone having trouble one way or another

I don't know when breaks are bad but I do know when brakes on a vehicle are bad.

If you dislike your truck so much then sell it and drive your GMC.
As has been said a million times on these forums you rarely see someone posting about all the good that their rig is doing but when it breaks you will find a post about it in a New York minute.

Step away from the key board and take a deep breath. This isn't personal so don't take it that way. These trucks are no more picky than a Chevy or Ford. They all have problems and some last longer than others.
I didn't edit anything out I just commented on your post about an issue you caused and then are blaming on the truck when it isn't a issue with the truck.
Some engines will only go 100,000 miles and others will go 500,000 miles. It is luck of the draw.

You were expecting tens of thousands of posts from people saying "Hey, my truck's been running great with just routine maintenance for 1,897 days now"?
