Default 2000 offroad package leaf spring replacement.

I have a 2000 dodge ram quad cab with offroad package. I went to a spring shop and they sold me a stock dodge 1500 aftermarket rear lief spring. They looked the same but when I got it apart and matched it up my old spring had a couple more inches of preload. I was desperate to get the truck going at the time and put it in anyway.
What can I do to get the truck to sit right again? Is there somewhere I can get the proper spring or do I have to put in a block or something? Thanks Tom

How off are you/how much do you want to lift the rear?

I think it's Off-Road Design that makes zero-rate add-a-leafs (basically a lift block that bolts to the leaf pack) in a 1" or 1.5" lift.

Or if you need to raise it two inches, you can get an add-a-leaf to add to your leaf pack. I'd recommend a long leaf (vs. a short-leaf) add-a-leaf.

Either of these would be way cheaper than trying to buy a new leaf pack.

I will look into both options and see if I can get a better measurement. Thanks
Are the offroad package springs same as stock 1500 with blocks or are they different? I can't emagine that these aftermarket springs are that bad that it would drop it 1.5" or 2". Just wondering it the spring shop gave me the wrong spring.

Call the dealer, and have them compare part numbers.

LOLz Ham Bone.

Most likely won't ever find the same leaf pack with that part number....you know 15 years old and all. lol

The 3rd Gen had a ORE or TRXUS package?? I'd get my eyes on that leaf pack. Still 2.5" width for the half-ton...

For the 2nd Gen, which has been discussed here before, standard 4x4 leaf pack is 3+overload. The ORE is 4+overload.

Can always build or add leafs to your existing pack, unless the main leaf is broke.

Other option is to go aftermarket replacment, like Deaver or Atlas.

Thanks for all the info. The aftermarket spring I got is 4 leafs + overload, like other side. It just doesn't have the same preload. I think I may just get the truck on level ground and see if I need a 1.5" or 2" block.
