Default 10-lug to 8 -lug conversion

Has anyone have any experience in such a conversion?
I can get front axle from Newer Ram 5500.
How difficult be to put under 2nd Gen Ram?
They are 10-lug pattern.
Can I just redrill hub for the right bolt pattern, change rotor and put 8 lug wheel?
What about suspension mounts?
Thanks for any info

Does it use the same suspension style? (4-link, and track bar?)

Width is ok, mounting it might require some fab work though..... No clue how you would change it over to 8 lug.... can you get the rear axle too? (it would have a matched gear ratio as well, which, currently, I do NOT think is the case.)

It has 4.88. So I think most rear axles do have this numerical option
Yes, it is a 4-link with a track bar.
This could be "bulletproof" axle. I think it has 10.25"ring gear

Considering the 5500's have something stupid like a 30,000 pound tow rating...... I don't think your wimpy V-8 stands a chance of breaking it. Getting both axles, (along with the springs, and hangars, for the rear) would be ideal. I would just leave them ten-lug at that point.

Hmmm, this could be the idea
How would I go about getting some rims with out going 19.5 ?
Is there a place for 17"rim with 10 bolt pattern?

Think I would measure carefully before spending money on wheels. Good chance 17" won't fit.... My guess is, your only option would be custom wheels..... (expensive.)

I think it's a bit of over kill. 2500-3500 axles will be plenty for your needs. The 2500+ (rear)use wider springs. I would imagine the 5500 front axle will have thicker/wider control arms and steering components. Mating this up to a 1500 may be a challenge.
