Default Fuel filter/regulator leak

Hello, I own a 2001 Dodge RAM 1500 quad cab v8 5.9L. While replacing the brake line I somehow broke the seal in the fuel filter/regulator unit that is on the top of the fuel filter. Now gas squirts out of the filter/regulator. The filter/regulator is number four: http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...category=20311 The regulator/filter is a small cylinder on top of the fuel pump. I believe I broke the weld that holds the fuel line connector to the regulator/filter. Now I was able to find the regulator/filter and I have the FSM for the truck showing how to replace it. But it costs more than a whole new fuel pump, which includes the regulator/filter. Am I missing something? Should I just replace the fuel pump?

EDIT: I am sure the weld is broken. I uploaded a diagram showing where the break happened https://i.imgur.com/U3Zar7S.png?1. Should I remove this part and try to weld it back together?

You can replace that part...... but, I think its over 100 bucks..... Would be better/safer to just replace the entire pump module..... Granted, thats over 200 bucks...... but, you would be SURE that is was fixed correctly. Spraying gas is just not a good thing, and welding on that could be exciting.... If your truck has high miles, just replace it, call it a day. (Delphi, or Denso pumps ONLY, skip airtex, unless you LIKE doing that particular job....)

I would not bother repairing that, not to mention the obvious explosion hazard. You'd have to drop the tank / lift the bed to get the regulator out anyway to gain access so why not just replace the whole thing? RockAuto has a wholesale closeout on the entire pump assembly for $55

What brand? Elcheapo delux! Do you research on choosing a pump. The airtex issue was brought up on here before before. Good -bad? Have seen both with other brands as well. I have an airtex that has been in for 30k and no issues.
