Default 46RE 4x4 transmission swap

We have a 2001 2500 5.9L 4x4 with the 46RE. The transfer case broke away from the overdrive housing. Found the same tranny and transfer case combo out of a 1999 2500. Will this interchange?

Yes, but, you will have to update the electronics in the trans for your 2001 truck.

Not that easy. Gotta replace the governor pressure sensor and solenoid, (and there is a different retainer required as well) and probably the TCC and O/D solenoids, so the wire harness (internal) will match. If you old trans was working pretty well, you could just steal the parts you need out of that one, and stuff 'em into the new trans.

The solenoid in the 99 is round metal. In 2000-2001 they went to a different design and called it a transducer. Whether the 01 parts will bolt into the 99 is a good question.
