something wrong

Default something wrong

okay I have a 96 dodge ram 1500 4x4. I changed the motor tranny and the wire harness to a 2001 .the problem I have now is ill be driving down the road say at 55 mph and the tranny will automatic sift down in 1st gear. I need to get this fixed so if anyone can help please feel free to help.

Did you change the PCM as well?

The wiring, and the way some things worked changed dramatically in 98......

Why did you change the electronics?

I suspect, the first thing you are going to have to do is, change back to the 96 harness/pcm, change the electronics in the trans (they changed in 2000), and see if things don't iron themselves out.

Where is the pcm getting a speed input from? In 96 it was at the back of the tranz. 98 was in the rear. More info would be nice.

okay sorry the pcm is getting the speed input on the back of the transfer case..
