Default Brake Light Problems

Well, my brake lights quit working right out of the blue. All the rest of the lights work, even the 4-ways. So I thought it was the brake light switch, and went ahead and replaced it, no soap.
I spliced a hot wire to the wire that goes to pin 2 on the brake light switch and now they work again. But I'm wondering if I bypassed a fuse or something. Let me add that me and wiring diagrams don't get along. I looked at a bunch of them and never could make heads or tails out of them. Have no idea where that white wire with blue stripe that goes to pin 2 comes from, but no power to it seems to be the problem. Should I leave well enough alone now that my brake lights work, or maybe someone could tell me where that wire comes from?

Power for that wire originates on fuse 6 in the PDC, and goes to fuse 20, in the fuse block. There is a joint connector near the fuse block where that wire splits. If fuse 20 is good, and you have power there, problem is more than likely at the joint connector.

Thanks for that. I saw some references to those two fuses but the cover on my fuse block is missing making it a bit more difficult. I pulled every 15A fuse and they all looked good. Gonna get another circuit tester tomorrow as I can't find mine, can't find my multi meter either. It's hell not having a shop or even a garage to work in. I would rather have it right than mickey moused. There's enough stuff like that on this truck already.
