Default 95 Ram ground wire issues

I've got a 95 Ram that my brother completely screwed with the radio wires. So I'm installing the factory unit back in and had to buy new harness. The issue I'm having is I can't find the braided ground wire now. How would I go at installing a new one? Help!!!!

If its just a ground wire, simply run a wire to a good ground. Firewall, or part of the metal frame of the dash.

Is there supposed to be a braided ground strap? There's not one in my '98. Ground is just a single wire, I believe AWG16, with a .250" fast-on connector that hangs on a tab stamped out of the radio chassis. The far end of the wire goes to the ground stud behind the driver's side sail panel.

I can't remember what it looked like when I first got the truck. All i remember was a ground wire that screwed into the back of the radio. What i'm trying to do is put a new factory harness on because the originals were cut. So now I'm trying to figure out were the original ground wire is. I've reached around in the dash trying to find it but haven't located it. And I know it's a separate wire if I'm not mistaken

Possible it was removed when the harness was initially butchered?

Take a peek at the back of the radio:

The ground should connect to either of the stamped tabs near the middle/top. The photo is of a pre-1997 AM/FM/CD/Cassette unit with steering wheel controls. On other factory units you may see the multiconductor connectors horizontally oriented and near the bottom. Either way, your ground conductor goes to one of those tabs.

If the factory ground wire is not there, you can just run a fresh one from the lug being the driver's side sail panel (outboard of the e-brake pedal). All ya need is the wire, a suitable ring lug for the stud end, and a fast-on for the radio end. Any good grounding point will do; it doesn't have to be that specific lug. I'd run the new one to it just so that the end points stay where the factory put them.
