Default loose steering?

hey guys so need some help to know what all i should get to get my steering better. so driving down the road you gotta really stay with the steering and keep moving the steering wheel back and forth to keep the truck straight. makes me feel like cops may think im drunk driving. i dont get any bad vibrations or death wobble.

I was think about some type of new steering box and the dodge ram steering stabilizer but unsure after that.

Have all your front end components look at! Worn ball joints, drag link, tie rod ends and track bar are common.

Here's a place to start...2nd gen's are notorious for weak/worn column bushing.
Open the hood...grab the steering shaft just below where it exits the column housing...try to move it left to right...up and down...in and out. Any play? lots of play?

So like with all my projects, this one has also turned into a long term project.

I can't detect any play in the steering column bushing. The slip joint tho is loose the part of the shaft that enters the steering gearbox is also loose.

Any good fix for those two issue?

There is an adjustment procedure for the steering box, that can eliminate a lot of the play.... may or may not get rid of all the slop in the box. If, after adjustment, the box is still more sloppy than you care for, only other option is replacement. On that, don't bother with the parts-store steering boxes. You may end up with one that is worse than what you have now... Go with a Borgeson, or RedHead steering box. They actually have a clue on what they are doing on a rebuild.
