Bkr7e-11 is a 43 gap. I should be able to spread it to 45 no problem

Yep, that's within range. You won't want a Screamin' Demon behind a gap that narrow, of course.

Also keep in mind that for the vast majority of folks running small block Magnums, upgrading the ignition is of no practical value. If you're not going to be exceeding 7000RPM or doing more than a little bit of low RPM/high load/high elevation (>10,000') work, the stock system is just fine.

Well as the original coil is 19 years old and rusty I figured I would go ahead and upgrade. As I may do internals or a cam some day I figured going above stock now wouldn't be bad

I've got the Davis coil and Livewires too, using cheap autolite copper with .65 gap. Been running great for about 5000 miles. Think I will pull em and see how they look.

I've got the Livewire kit with Dist cap, rotor, plug wires and coil. I too was gapping my plugs out to .052 but I don't remember which brand they were. I have not had any issues with it so far.
I am building a 408 right now and we'll see how the Livewire does on the bigger engine. If it has issues I am thinking of trying a 6ALN.

Did anyone notice gains when they did the new coil? my full setup for now as I make more money is going to be a 180 stat, flexalite fan, modded kegger, 1.7 rockers, summit exhaust manifold, magna flow cat, Gibson super truck exhaust, high flow water pump. Eventually it'll get new heads with oversize valves, cam (mild probably), and new lifters maybe a stroker kit.
Also: slightly larger injectors and a tune.
So I figure that's why I want to up the coil now

You can see what I've done in my signature... this has gained 4mpg over how it was as stock for its age... I'm getting 14½-15mpg at the moment, which still isn't what I got when it was new (but I have more power than when new, so ....).
I'm still on the original coil, but I don't see a hot coil making that much difference for a non performance build.

If you plan on doing the mods get a MSD6A. You will see an improvement in mileage and performance. Down side is you will replace plugs more often.

And eventually I'll put the Hughes intake in as well. In the end I'll look into a MSD ignition setup

Howdy sir. This seems counter intuitive to me. In atmospheric densities typically naturally found in survivable climates on Earth I was under the impression ionization voltage goes up with pressure. This would imply the stock ignition should work even better at altitude as a general rule. Doesn't it?
