Update: With steering gearbox locked centered I adjusted the tie rod ends for toe in/out using a string line setting a slight toe in. Disconnected the steering shaft at the box, straightened steering wheel and had wife hold straight while I reinstalled the shaft. Steering is responding better now, still slight play at the wheel but way better than before, but alignment might square that up, if not, its liveable. On a side note, I found both my adjuster sleeves loose enough to turn by hand before I ever put a wrench on them. I had an alignment several months ago and appears they may have not been tightened enough or not at all. In the future think I will take a peek at everything after the next alignment. Thanks to all for the info....
