Default Electrical issues with 2001 dodge 2500 5.9 magnum

Back in the spring of this year my truck had this same exact issue and the problem cured it's self with out knowing what I did exactly. Truck has run fine up until now and the same problem is back.

My truck stalls if I touch the brake pedal. Truck also stalls when I turn the head light switch on. The rear brake lights are stuck on all the time, but only if the truck is running. Also both rear turn signals don't work but the front ones do.

Back when I had this problem the first time. I went through every ground I could find in the engine compartment. Cut and replaced new terminal ends on them even the cluster of 14 grounds under the battery box. I made sure wires were clean as well. I couldn't find a good wiring diagram for all the ground locations. I think I found most of them under hood.

Here's what's already been replaced on truck within last yr just fyi

Battery
alternator
distributor, cap, rotor
ignition coil,
Plug wires
tps senor
cam/crank sensor

I have tried to research this issue for sometime and came up with nothing on the web. Dodge dealer don't know, they want the truck to look at but I'm not about to pay to have them guess. Any help would be great.

For the rear lights, do you have a trailer harness? If so, check where it splices into the main harness.

For wiring diagrams and such, grab the factory service manual from here.

Have you cleaned your throttle body?

Check where the trailer harness hits the rear harness. I bet you have a short there.

Sort out the various electrical problems, and see if the stalling problem isn't solved as well.

I looked at all the trailer wiring. It's all nicely connected to gather with heat shrink but connectors. I also inspected all the wires. They were all nicely wrapped and found nothing wrong with them.

Test them with a meter.

I had an electrical occurrence on my '74 Charger. My brake lights did not work but every time I stepped on the brake pedal the dome light came on. Traced the circuits on a wiring diagram and found the only place they crossed was at the fuse box. Pulled the fuse box and found the wire to the brake lights had broke and dropped to the dome light circuit and fused there. Once repaired everything worked fine.
Take Hey You's advice and get the wiring diagram. Trace the wiring from the brake light switch, headlight switch, brake lights and turn signal lights and I bet where they all come together will be the location of where your problem is. I'll bet more than likely you'll find it at a junction box, multi-wire connector or a control unit ie. the PCM. I'm positive that the issue is located in this one spot. The chance of multiple issues I think is slim as you indicate this is all happening at the same time. This will also be a lot faster than taking the time to test every wire for continuity.

answer bad ground in the harness found where the 4 grounds for the lights are connected drivers side at the spare tire area. steel connector rusted just enough to not handle the amperage and back feed everything the common ground goes back to the drivers front fender..stupid

Default esp/bad problem on 2005 Magnum, by Dodge

Greetings everyone......Allow me to explain what I have done and why the warning lights esp/bas com on. It has to do with the brakes and the braking system. Forget all that electrical search, Trial & Error, for the warning lights come on signaling there is a problem with your brakes. they probably need to be changed or serviced. If you done everything else, like disconnect the battery ground and drain the electrical power by turn lights on, then off, hook up the battery then turn key off and on without turning the engine, and on the 3rd time turn car on. Do the wheel reset thing....turn all the way left then all the way right center the wheels, turn car off. State it up and see whT happens. The lights should go off . But the focus should be on the brakes and it’s system, and nothing else....like 20” rums, or a steering column, or such nonsense, or if the dealer asks you to change this or change that, is is bull****, Check your brakes! or speed sensor. butter problem is brakes

These are awesome for locating wiring faults.
