Default 98' dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.9

alright well my alternator will not keep a charge, I noticed my headlights started flickering on and off, even shutting off then turning right back on seconds later....I wasn't for sure if it would be the alternator causing this, or is there a short somewhere. please help!!!!!

Moving this to second gen ram tech for ya.

Pull the headlight switch, and have a look at the wiring behind it.

Does it get worse at idle like if you stop at a stop sign do they go kinda dim and flicker. Then get brighten up when you hit the throttle again?

U can have your alternator and battery tested for free at most auto parts store. U could have a bad voltage regulator on the alternator.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the voltage is externally regulated by the pcm. You can still get the alternator tested to see what it is putting out.

X2 have the battery and charging system checked. Clean all battery connections also!
