Default Not able to control hot/cold air in cab.

I recently replaced my evaporator & heater core. My A/C works and so does the controls for for floor/dash vents. I just can't control how cold or warm the air gets. By visually looking at the actuator, can I tell if it's working by turning the control temp ****? Does something move on the actuator that I can see?? Is there a way to see the blend door or move it with my hand without removing the dash? Can someone point me in the right direction on how to test the actuator with a multimeter?

Thanks again....

^^ this. Makes a huge difference. Put your truck info in your signature. Then we don't have to guess.

Oooh.... I don't recall the transition year.... you might go either way.... Look at the bottom side of the heater box, just to the passenger side of the trans tunnel, is there a little black box there? If there is, is it plugged in?

If there isn't, put your finger on the axle for the temp door that is there, (should be able to see it) and turn the temp control. Does the axle move?

Do you recall hooking the cable back up on top of the heater box? (if you don't have the electric feller.)

The actuator is there next to the transfer tunnel. I thought I hooked every thing back up.

I had the same problem in my 2001. Here is the permanent fix:

https://heatertreater.net/

I bought the aluminum replacement from there for the plastic OEM piece that breaks, and causes the issue you describe. Never had the again.

I am not so sure the actuator is the problem that's why I am trying to diagnose the issue of whether or not the actuator has power or when I put the dash back together after replacing the heater core and evaporator core did I somehow jam the blend door but I don't recall the location of the blend door or know the protocol for testing the actuator for power..
