Default Broken parking brake pedal

So last night I went to set the parking brake and after about pushing it about halfway it broke loose and went to the floor. I verified after pulling back the pedal that the brake wasn't set, but now it just dangles and the brake light stays on.

How do I fix this?

What broke? The pedal, or some part of the cable?

It sounds like the cable broke. Look at the cable and see if you can find the break.

Okay I couldn't see where the cable was broken. Is there a spring that may have broke? Like I said the pedal is just limp, I pull it up and the teeth catch so it doesn't fall, if I pull the release it falls to the floor. So I am thinking a broken spring.

Found this, it sounds like a pain in the rump roast.

If the pedal is limp, it is not pulling the cable. Something broke..... need to find out where.

Okay it looked to me like the pedal PULLED the cable up from the floor. That appears to still be happening. However, there is nothing that is bringing the pedal back to the top. It appears from the drawing that there is a spring up under the dash where the pedal attaches that pulls the pedal back up.

The cable isn't broken and is still attached. I am thinking the spring broke. I will try to find time in the next day or two look at it closer.

Post pics if you can.

Does the cable move with the pedal? Is the cable sheath staying where it should?

I should have never doubted you Hey You! The cable is broken, I can see it hanging down under the rear of the cab. I'll pick up a new cable and fix it.

Thought so. I *think* the cables may still be available. if you can't find 'em locally, check LMC Truck.
