Default Distributor rotor won't come off

I'm trying to do a tune up on my 99 Ram 1500 and the rotor won't pull off the distributor. I tried tapping and yanking but nothing. I am afraid to pull the distributor out because of all the trouble I've had to this point. It took me a 1/2 to get the plastic clips off the back of the valve covers. 2 days of spraying and beating to get one of the heat shields off because there was so much rust I couldn't get my socket on the plug. I still have one plug left to change.

It just kinda sits on there..... But, if it's been there a while, it becomes reluctant to let go...... If you have to, crush it with a pair of pliers, and then pick ALL the pieces out.

That sounds like a good idea. Still scary because I can't see back there but I guess if there was something left behind I wouldn't be able to put it back together

Take off the air filter box, put a rag over the throttle body, and throw piece of plywood from the radiator support, to the throttle body, and lay on it. Makes life much more pleasant.
