I gutted the cat when I bought the truck 3 years ago cause it was rattling. I changed the camshaft sensor today. Cleared codes. took for spin, P0300/p0308/p0302/p0301 came back. I started tinkering with all wires and injector wires to ensure all were ok. there seemed to be some room were the injector bottom went into the manifold. I pushed and wiggled down on each injector to bottom it out. Chcecked codes again, p0308 only stored. Changed spark plug. Came back from test drive again, had p0300 p1391 p0308. While sitting in driveway..engine stalled. and wouldn't start. hit gas pedal, started...all codes are gone?? wtf is happening?

p1391 is intermittent loss of crank or cam sensor signal..if you have already replaced these sensors, then you have a wiring problem possibly connectors or pcm pinouts..

As of last night, there were no codes. This morning, got P0300/0308 STORED with P0302 pending. Decided to take off the left side fuel rail and injectors to make sure nothing was clogged in the injector housing. Was reading in the manual the the white colored connector on the PCM is responsible for providing the grounds for the injectors. Took connector off of PCM and sprayed it and the PCM pins with brake cleaner. Put everything back together..took truck for a ride..got P1391 code. Decided to put on the "old" camshaft sensor in the distributor (which I replaced yesterday) and code went away and so far none of the other codes came back. When in drive at a stop light, truck seems to idle a tad bit more smoothly also. Keeping fingers crossed CEL strays off.

OK...five days and 200 miles later...CEL came on tonight. Codes P0300/0308 Stored with P0301 pending. Didn't clear codes and let idle in driveway, then turned truck off for 30 secs then restarted. P0301 was gone, still had the other two. Shut truck off then restarted, now have P0300/P0308 stored with P0300/P0308 pending. How can they be in a stored and pending status at the same times? Beginning to think the ECU is eff'd!!!!

Recap on what you have done so far to solve this?

Default random misfire

What you are doing is not solving the problem. Take a deep breath, and then try some serious troubleshooting before replacing any more parts. First, check fuel pressure at idle and while driving. These trucks have the fuel filter in the tank, usually never serviced, probably restricted by now. Second, with the engine cold, do a smoke check to locate any vacuum leaks. Third, check for any play in the distributor shaft. A loose shaft can cause a random misfire also.

The problem is not the plugs, cap, rotor or the sensors. Does the engine have over 75k on it. If it does, replace the cylinder heads. Thats because the heads crack between the intake and exhaust valves. Just so you know I'm a Dodge tech and know what I am talking about, so don't give me any crap. It only misfires at an idle and the misfire is gone when driving. And if the engine controller is clearing itself. Check the ground and if that's good. Replace the PCM because of a bad circuit board.
