Default no low end power - (horrible 0-60 and 1/4mile)

I'm not wanting a dragster, but after the amount of work in this motor, these times are ridiculous. (I can cruise about 120mph at the top end.) But what can the problem be at low end????

2001 5.2 magnum 4x4

Using the TORQUE app, I just timed my truck with and without my superchips tuner:

Stock: 0-60 in 16.0 seconds
1/4 mile in 21.6 seconds @ 70.2 mph

Super chips tuned: 0-60 in 15.5 seconds
1/4 mile in 21.3 seconds

*sounds like the tuner was a waste of money

Here are my mods (nothing left I can do)

-aluminum plenum, kegger mod, throtlebody mod, CAI.

-Odessa aftermarket heads, compcam 20-744-9 camshaft, mopar performance valve springs (dcc-5249464) with valve retainers dcc-4452032.

-short headers with complete 2.5" dual exhaust with t-pipe connection, no cats, unrestricted magnaflow mufflers #10426

-35" tires with 4:56 gear, fox shocks 2.0 w/res

-new 8.2 wires, rotor, and plugs

Note: I've shortened the frame, and have custom bed and bumpers, so there is most likely an increase in weight:

edit: The truck shows over 220k miles on the odo, but a full rebuild and all this work was done in the last 3 years. I assume the fuel injectors are original, but it still idles smooth.

Try aftermarket intake manifold. MSD blaster coil. Ngk zfr5f11 copper plugs gapped to 45. Maybe an aftermarket throttle body. Some hs 1.7 rockers and taller valve covers as well to fit the rockers. And maybe a better tune as you need a custom tune not some outta the box one. People said Airram I believe for a tune

4.56 gear with 35" tires is ok.
The first thing I would do is get a hold of Hemifever or FlyinRyan and have them make you a custom tune. You most likely have a death flash tune on your stock ECM and that is what is killing all your lowend torque. Next the kegger mod takes away from low end torque. What throttle body mod did you do? Have you had your throttle body bored out to 52mm or larger?

Yes the Superchip tuner is a waste of money. You need to contact one of the guys I listed and have them write a custom tune to work with the mods you have done to your engine.

Like what you did with the bed of the truck that is nice.

I know my truck has death tune! and it runs like a raped ape! cant wait till I get a tuner, but, my question is what transmission do you have? and what rpm is it shifting at?? also, if you haven't recalibrated the speedometer then all those performance numbers are inaccurate! does the motor feel responsive? or does it feel like a slug? also, youve replaced the cam, so did you set the fuel sync? this can affect low end power also..

lots of responses so soon, thanks so much.

khris1994, would I still need the taller valve covers with my heads?

I do have my speedo correct with my tires using the superchip.. I verified this with gps gear.

Khris and Wildman, Yeah, I'd love to get a custom tune. Problem is that I'm in Honduras, and the closest Dyno machine is in neighboring country of El Salvador.
"death tune" is a new term, and I will be researching that.

Wildman, This was originally a longbed, and I shortened the frame and had the flatbed built here. I'm happy as hell with it. I also had to have a gas tank made, since the original was too long afterwards.

I will be looking at the tuner contacts you guys gave..... thanks so much!!

I have the stock trans.. whatever that is. Automatic. I did have it rebuilt here. Speedo is set right with the superchip, and I verified with gps. Motor feels very responsive, especially with the cold air intake. I'm not sure what you mean by "set the fuel sync".

thanks!

Cam and crank sensor need to be 'in sync' for things to work properly. Cam sensor is in the distributor, crank sensor reads the flywheel. Need a scanner to set it properly.

If you don't have one already, get the service manual for your truck from here. They talk about fuel sync in the fuel and ignition section.

You have the 46RE transmission. ( assuming automatic)

With the 5.2, those numbers may simply be as good as it gets. A good tune for your engine certainly won't hurt though. (albeit, not precisely cheap.) Given all the details of your engine, Flyin' Ryan can at least get you better than what you currently have with the Death Flash..... (there is a thread about that in the DIY section here.)

Yes you would. Are you running factory rockers? And I'm running those plugs and coils since I did the plenum on my truck and it that's all I have done minus my lack of a cat and the truck seems real strong now.
