Default Low heat.

I have a 1998 dodge ram. I just have a coolant flush and have changed the thermostat. The temp still only gets up to about 170. Would there still be air in system after a coolant flush?

What temp stat did you install? If you put in a 195, and it ain't getting there, time for a new one.

There might be a blockage in the cooling passages or even the heater core.

Then either the stat is bad, or your gauge is lying.

Ok. The heat isn't very warm coming out of vents.

Not to be a dick, but are you certain the thermostat wasn't installed upside down? It can happen to the best of us.
