Power steering feels weak
The power steering has its moments usually when idling around turns where it feels like the power steering cuts out or gets super weak. It's been feeling weaker lately. Sound like the pump???
Well it's been like that since before it was bad. Maybe I can drain it and put new fluid in but i worry spending so much if that's not the issue. My car has atf instead and works the same as before.
It's pretty much the same stuff, (hydraulic fluid.....) just different additive packages, more suited to the purpose. I have used it in cars/trucks as well, and it does indeed work just fine. I suspect it's a marketing thing.... but, some folks swear up and down that ATF doesn't make good P/S fluid..... I haven't really seen a good reason why, but then, I haven't looked that hard either.
Fluid probably isn't the issue. You could try flushing it, and see if it isn't just some bit o' dirt of grime clogging things up. It's an inexpensive attempt at least. Next step would be to check pressures......

I don't have tools to check pressure. Trucks got 33's and 3" lift with 150,000 miles registered.

I don't think it's been open. It doesn't matter how far you turn the wheel the power steering feels the same all the way. I know the gear box leaks just a little. Hence the atf in the power steering
