Default Stalling at idle

Gents,

Been awhile! Ok I have my 98 ram 1500 5.9 stalling at random times (idling, backing up) I tested battery and it was on its way out. Replaced with new battery and its still doing it. (no codes or engine light)

Recently replaced distributor cap, wires, plugs

Any ideas?

Searching mentioned 02 sensor, and that was replaced 10k miles ago with Plenum.....

Thanks in advance

Try running some fuel injector cleaner. Also, not quite sure exactly why but also at random times during idle my truck would somewhat die slowly. After cooling a bit I would then be able to restart...sometimes. The last time it didn't and I got a tow. Turned out the be the ECM. Got a refurbished for nearly 20% of the dealership cost.

Have you checked your idle air valve? Check the passageway on it too to make sure it isn't clogging up. Mine shut off completely once when backing up and wouldnt start back up till I had pulled the battery cables off and reinstalled them

I did, about a year and a half ago (not even 4k miles) along with IAC...will check it as my spectre CAI brace bolt fell off and the entire intake was loose. Maybe this play allowed "unfiltered air" in?

He did the plenum gasket about 10k ago. How fast does the gasket go out? Mines done for and I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to spend 600 on the huges manifold or just the 150 or so for the huges kit

My manifold has been fixed, and is squeaky clean inside, yet I STILL burn almost a quart of oil every 150 miles or so. Yeah, that's pretty excessive...... I know the valve seals are bad, but, I have NEVER seen valve seals account for that much oil consumption. I suspect my rings are shot. (it does have 198K miles on it......)

probably the IAC gunked up, mine was dying while backing up and coming to a complete stop and it was my fuel pump. check your fuel pressure on load.

Have your fuel injector checked.
