Default "mystery" breakdown ?

98 1500 5.9 mag,140,000 miles

trucks been running great.
last nite,coming home from work,cruising on the freeway.
she died on me ! sitting on the shoulder,(wishing I was home havin a cold one),waitin for the tow truck,engine would crank but no start.had to get towed home.

next morning,still wouldnt start,disconnected battery,let it sit for about an hour.

fired right up ! running good

?????????????????

anybody got some ideas,similiar past problem ??

Cam or crank sensor?

Unfortunately, you are going to have to wait for it to die again, to do some troubleshooting....

you could try to jiggle the wires to those sensors while its running and see if it duplicates the problem, fuel pump might be going out as well, id check fuel pressure..

Did the check engine light come on? If so you probably could tell from that but since you disconnected the battery it's gone now.

hmmm,checked oreillys website

crank sensor...$50 some bucks
no cam sensor available ?

CEL has been on for some time now...no power to obd port...another lil prob

store are open today,,after xmas,,see what I can get done.

Don't just throw parts at it. And certainly not the cheap aftermarket parts in critical locations. (cam and crank sensors are right there at the top of the list.) Figure out the problem first, then buy the part you need, from the dealer. Our trucks are very hit and miss on the aftermarket sensors.....
