I had to use mineral spirits on my truck to get the tar off. Don't know about rubber but wold guess it would work also just don't forget to wash it right after using it and wax would not be a bad idea either.

All you need is dish-waching soap and warm water, worked for me, and the same that was on my truck had been on there for almost a week.

Also never over look wd-40

You can use it to remove the sticky goo from stickers and road tar. You can spray it on a stain on your jeans and wash it with regular soap. The old cans used to have like 101 things it was good for besides oiling squeakes. The stuff is amazing. If you spray it down your shorts where the sun don't shine you can get 2 inches overnight... lol... maybe not....

If you do use it to remove goo from your paint wash the area with soap and water right after.

good luck

About a year ago I was following behind my dad and we went through some still wet yellow road paint. There was absolutely no signs what so ever! Anyways, by the time I had gotten home it was already dry. I used everything I could think of to get it off. Hot water and soap, wd-40, bug and tar remover, and numerous others. The paint was speckled EVERYWHERE! Windshield, mirrors, bumper, grill, headlights, hood, front fenders. I finally took it to the body shop about a month later and they introduced me to a miracle cleaner...lacquer thinner! I don't know...anyways it took off the road paint everywhere! But you will have wax your truck afterwards because it takes off the wax also. After that incident I now have a can of lacquer thinner setting in the garage! Hope this helps.

If you are using dish washing soap, be sure to wax afterwords, because dish soap will take off wax also.
