Default Thin, coolant smelling oil under driver side valve cover

Truck's been running rough. One day my brother took off the fill cap and it had a snotty, milky, sweet smell to it. I did a tune up and I'm working on the plenum repair right now. There was no signs of a broken gasket or cracked head when I took the intake off. The oil in the valley looked good except for some gritty, non metal stuff in the oil. P0305 p0303 p0300 are showing up. Do ya'll have any ideas. The trucks a 2001 1500 v6. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes its just condensation. If the oil IN the engine looks ok, then chances are good, that's all it is. (which means, nothing to worry about.) If you have mystery coolant loss though, may be looking at headgasket issues, or cracked heads. (which really wouldn't be that surprising either, as these heads are prone to that kind of behavior.....)

Does the truck sit for long periods, without being driven?

Welcome to DF!

No, it used to be a daily driver before all of these problems. I did notice something out of the ordinary though. I didn't feel like going to the trouble of draining the block, and when I took the intake off, the rear coolant passage on the passenger side head had coolant pooled up, but the driver side didn't.

May have just already escaped. But, if you still have the intake off, might be worth looking into... If it's already back together, and the engine doesn't overheat, don't worry about it.

Drive it, get it good and warmed up. See if the problem comes back.
