Converter doesn't really matter all that much, except for emissions, and, if it is clogged. I have seen a fair few trucks pass emissions testing WITHOUT a cat. (of course, it fails the visual.....)

Front O2 is the important one. PCM bases LOTS of decisions on the input received from that one. Rear just measures cat efficiency, and may or may not set a code, if the cat isn't there, or, actually DOES have an issue. There have been reports that the rear O2 CAN contribute to some odd performance problems, but, I have no information on that. I simply do not know.

You have lived in the controlled state of co for way to long ! I live by ft carson and they pollute everyday but nobody cares about that ! My truck hasen't had a cat since it was about 3 months old and it doesn't matter in the south because there are no emissions !

Thank you for saying that. Personally, I am dismayed that so many people run without them. Not to mention that it is illegal, they are federally mandated.

The Fed seems to have the "Do as I say, not as I do." philosophy on things. There is a LOT of stuff they do every day, that, if we, as private citizens, did once.... we would be in prison. And that doesn't even get into the stuff they have mandated as 'safety features', that actually cause more problems than they solve....

But then, I gave up on expecting our government to either 1.) Make sense. Or 2.) Do the right thing. a LONG time ago......

I must suggest that the more likely explanation is that they try not to know things they haven't bothered to learn.

I've no intention of dying soon or leaving ever, so I disagree. I haven't lived here near long enough yet.

What you're saying is that so long as you're unlikely to be held to account for it, you won't hesitate to disrespect everything else living on Earth including yourself. And you've said it right out loud and in public to people who were helping you out of the goodness of their hearts, too.

Have a nice day.

You're welcome.

The way I figure it, a guy who believes that what he's doing is right and that he has the right to do it doesn't rationalize it by calling attention to the hypocrisy of others doing the same thing. I don't mean that as a denigration of that other guy -- it's his time to be immature just as it was once my time, and if he has good grace enough to get off of the ride when his turn is over then no one's got reason to complain.

If he's still behaving the same way at thirty years of age, he's a mutant.
