Default Running issue ?

My truck sometimes going up hill or under load acts like it is running out of gas or dieing but i push the gas pedal to the floor and does nothing until i let up on the pedal and then it builds power again and runs good from then on ? I thing it might be in the pcm but really don't know ? Any ideas ?

Set any codes? CEL flashing while you are trying to accelerate? How's your fuel pressure? Cat? Girlfriend?

Does this happen when the hill comes after a period of easy cruising? And does your idle get lumpy about a minute after cold start?

Your oxygen sensor is shot. Get one from the dealer if you want to be certain that it works the first time, or get Denso brand somewhere else. NTK's work but even a good one might leave you with a lumpy idle when the PCM first enters closed loop -- mine does, but is otherwise just fine. Venture off into other brands only if you really like doing things twice.

I hope the weather conditions in your part of the state aren't making driving as interesting as it has been here. Just about everyone I know has either spun out or whacked a critter in the last week.

Yesterday it was almost 50, and reasonably nice out. Dogs got me up at 3:00AM to go outside for a few, and it was still pretty nice out.... Got up around 8:00, only to see snow on the ground, the wind howling, and it is COLD!

Gotta love Michigan......

Ok so my truck doesn't have a converter and dummy 02 sensors but they could be bad because they have been on the truck since it was a yr old as i knew they guy who bought it new ! We got some snow and ice down here in the springs area and some spots are slick !

You might want to look a little more closely at that, because the symptom picture you describe isn't really consistent with there being a fake oxygen sensor plugged into that front connector. If I were going to bet a dollar on it, sight unseen, I'd bet that your rear sensor is cheated to prevent a converter efficiency fault code but the front is in place, plugged in, and ready for retirement.

Hanging a toy where the front sensor should be provides only two things: Poor part throttle performance and reduced fuel economy. You probably don't want that.

Be careful on that! Pretty much all of northwest Colorado was slick for most of the week, so it's been booming business for the body shop and wrecking yard and h3LL on the big game population.

So should it run good without a converter and good 02 sensors ?

Poisoning the world unnecessarily isn't a behavior I can condone, but with no converter and good sensors your engine will run just fine, all else being in good order. Without a cheat on the rear sensor it'll cause a converter efficiency fault, but you'd have had that for a long, long time if the cheat weren't already there.
