Default 1996 dodge 4x4 5.2

Hello, I have 1996 dodge 1/2 ton 4x4 with a 5.2 with an automatic transmission. I cannot get the truck to take of in first gear. Also the overdrive button/light is not working. When I start the truck and shift real fast into first it will go but then it goes out, almost like it is getting voltage for a second than it goes away. I am at a loss. I have been tracking wires now for a week and cannot find one that appears to be bad, I replaced the trans relay, also replaced the ecm still nothing. Any help would be awesome.

Thank you in advance
Chris

So what is it doing? It will go into first, but, the truck won't move?

How many miles on it? How's the fluid level? Last time fluid/filter were changed?

ECM's don't go bad often..... In fact, its actually rather rare. Usually, something like IAC control, or voltage regulator goes out....

Welcome to DF!

Its kinda strange the fluid is good and the truck will drive. When you start it and put it in drive quickly it will move forward. Also if you start it you can push the o/d button on and off and the light will go on and off but after a second or 2 no matter what you do the light will not come back on. A buddy came over with a scanner and said when he starts the truck there is voltage to the trans but after a second or 2 the voltage goes away.

thank you

No codes?

Verify you are getting no power at the connector on the trans. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it wasn't just a poor connection somewhere.

Start the engine, see if you continue to have power.
