Default 1996 dodge ram t case issues

So drove my truck today after having misfire issues. Felt like it was in 4 high. But when I try to shift into 2hi its got like no power and feels like its gonna pop out of gear.

Dodge ram 96 v8 5.2l
Not sure on t case?

Think it just needs an adjustment ?

Tag says 231 D, I tried shifting it into 2wd multiple times with no success. I feel like its just not engaging enough ?

But when I am in what's supposed to be 2wd and try and move in moves a little and then there's just no power and revs up with it trying to grab. I don't know how to explain it other then it not engaging and slipping or something but is fine in 4hi

From here, that has the aroma of vacuum leak. There's quite a lot of vacuum manifold connected to that circuit from topside down to the case and forward to the CAD. You might consider taking the hand vacuum pump to the thing to do leakdown tests of the lines.

Sounds like a transmission problem to me......... but, maybe I am just not quite understanding what's going on.

Does it drive fine in 4wd, but doesn't wanna move in 2wd?
