Help ! P1391
The mechanic said he checked the wiring etc... Said it could be a number of things with that code but he thought it was probably the computer .. Like I said highly unlikely the computer would go bad during the time it was in shop for repair
I've never bent a flex plate yet! You unbolt the torque converter and the flex plate stays on the engine. The only reason to change it, is if the teeth are worn from the starter. You need to cut your losses and fix it yourself or find a different shop.
Neither have I. I've broken several, but with horsepower rather than elbow grease. To bend one seems a thing that would take a bit more carelessness than most of us will devote to our own vehicles.
Ok took the truck back to him . He said he will stand behind his work . He said he's going to put the old flex plate and crank sensor back on and see if it still has the problem . He said it looked like all of the holes we're bent on the flex plate the Same way like maybe someone did that to get them to read right ? Tbc I gues
My butt is puckering. You need to RUN away. You said he tried to straighten the old one. With a press or a big hammer? So now, maybe it was supposed to be that way? If the flex plate you brought him was different, he should've figured out why, or if it was the correct replacement part BEFORE installing everything. A good mechanic would have seriously investigated the flexplate if it looked like someone purposely bent it. This story has a very bad stench.
The sensor that was replaced may have been a cheap one. Maybe try the Dodge sensor first. He has to take everything back apart to change the flex plate.
I hope some of the other guys offer their opinion.

Yah I talked about the aftermarket sensor and he said he uses them all the time with no problem ? I'm thinking that's the route to go but I don't think the dealer will let u return electrical parts ?
On another note the tranny seemed to work good besides one thing .. When going down high way when I floor it like when the gears drop and the rpm get to around 4000 it cuts out and squeals ? I don't remember this on any of my other Rams ????
