Disconnect the 8 pin harness again. Bear in mind, that disables ALL automatic functions, along with TCC, and O/D. If you put it in drive, it will indeed be in third gear, and it doesn't matter what you do, it will stay there. You MUST shift manually. So, start in first, and accelerate gently, shift into second when you think you should, same for third. If the trans goes into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, then its just an electronic problem, and replacing the governor pressure sensor and solenoid should solve it.

Good to know. I'll try that again as soon as I get back, I had to run to town.

That seems to work, I'll order the new sensor and solenoid today and let you know how things work out. Thanks again.

Will it hurt anything to drive it for a couple of days, manually shifting through the gears till I get the parts to fix it?

I wouldn't think so.

Just keep in mind you gotta do all the shifting.

Yep, and don't hit the wrong gear by mistake. Hitting reverse at 40 would be very bad.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, I got all new parts put in and everything seems to work great. Shifts smoothly all the way through the gears. The only question I have is, when it's in overdrive going around 55mph the rpms are about 2000 and they used to run around 1600. Do you have any idea what would cause this?

Im not sure, I don't know how to tell if it's locking up. I don't mean to sound like an idiot.
