Would I be able to pass California Smog with long tube headers?

I think for the most part it is all related to the certification, in other words, you have to pay more for the same parts.

That being said, would it even be worth it to get long tubes and have to potentially deal with failing emissions, or would a nice set of shorties and the magnaflow direct fit cat result in similar gains?

I'm thinkin' that finding parts that already have a carb eo number would avoid a lot of unnecessary work, and expense.....

Yea, it definitely would, but I really don't like the idea of paying more just to get a setup that will pass the emission testing at the cost of performance. However, I suppose that there could potentially be some fines associated with not using a setup that is not CARB compliant.

EPA is going to make a ruling in July concerning emissions on a street car/truck, modifying anything might be illegal in all 50 states.

Pay attention, it will, and your attitude is why it will.
It might stop the sale of performance parts across the board. The current ruling is it's illegal to tamper with emissions on a street vehicles, and they have looked the other way for off road vehicles, but EPA added new language, it will be illegal to modify any car/truck with a VIN that was built for the street, even if it's a race only vehicle never driven on the street.

EPA will make their determination in July. Thanks to OBAMA, the EPA has more power than ever before. They have shut down just about all coal mining, made 80% of all wood stoves illegal. Once the EPA makes their ruling, that's it, no vote no act of congress can change it.

FYI...it's 37,000 dollar fine per item if you tamper with any emissions. Thanks to the Al Gores and the Liberal Agenda....It's about to get real.

The EPA and the emission laws are just plain stupid ! You are never going to fix the ozone or anything else ! People that believe that are brainwashed and been told what to do their whole life !

Anything on your motor, including exhaust....Anything.

I'm surprised you don't know about it.
