Question 94 hemi swap

Hi everyone, new to the site so I hope this is ok, I have a 94 ram 1500 4x4 with 318 engine and auto trans, I just bought a 05 dodge 2500 4x4 5.7 hemi and I'm planning on doing a complete swap of motor, trans, transfer, and rear ends, my question here is anyone ever done this? What kinda fabrications will I have to do? Any input would be appreciated,.

Several folks have done this. A few here have attempted it. Not a simple swap. There is a thread here from a member that attempted this. I think the thread lasted more than two years, and in the end, he just sold the truck, with the project incomplete. (he had issues with engines, and such.) Searching it out, and reading thru it would be rather enlightening.

Welcome to DF!

There is a thread on another popular Ram forum where the guy actually did it and still has the truck. I'm sure you can google it.

His is 2WD if recall. The biggest problem with this swap is the wiring/pcm. The wiring along with any controllers need to be incorporated into the second gen wiring to make it work. 98hemiram paid like a grand for just the wiring harness alone.

I have a complete running donor truck, could I just swap all the wiring from the 05? Including the dash cluster? I've heard that you had to swap the gas peddle as well something about its electronic, is this true?

I think the guy here, put the dash from the newer truck into his as well, and ALL the wiring. I am sure there was some wiring work to be done, but, don't recall what all it was. Read the thread. It will answer a lot more question than we can here.

Thanks everyone, one more quick question. Is the front springs the same size in the 2500 as the 1500? Will my 1500 springs set on the 2500 rear end perch?

You can swap the springs, 2500 springs in a 1500 will give you about two inches of lift, conversely, 1500 springs in a 2500 will lower the front by the same.
