I did give it some thought about just buying a rebuild kit and just doing it myself. I learn as I go, so I mean it shouldn't be that hard. I'm aware of the many many parts inside a transmission but I believe in myself I could get it done. And yeah I've seen rebuild kits on eBay, they're cheap. And I wouldn't dump the money into the truck because it's not really worth it, I mean I paid $100 for the truck. It was in a wreck and the link is what it was before I chose to take it all apart

TBH, the thread was part of what would be my first Non Motorcycle transmission rebuild......there is no way to put it together wrong by definition.
You can do a pisspoor job, and make mindless mistakes that lead to bigger issues, but I suppose that would be part of doing it wrong.
I can say a lot of good advice will come to you from the forums, but can safely say to rebuild it DYI, You would spend about $600 between ebay, and a getting a few things locally to rebuild the whole transmission provided the Torque converter was in good shape (if it's not add $200 +/- )
Probably the most important thing about starting with breaking it down completely is to inspect each and every passage for blockage, and cleaning out any all debris and grit as you go.
