I have a 2001 5.2l 46re. I replaced fluid, filter, pressure governor, temp sensor, removed check ball valve, added duralube red. After 20 miles the truck kicks out of overdrive and about 30 miles the trans temp light kicks on. After removing check ball valve both lines get hot. Before they stayed cool. I ran a snapon scanner while driving and it got to over 265f while driving it easy. I am about to add a transmission cooler. Also checked my fluid while hot and in neutral and it is slightly under OK level by about a 1/16th of an inch. My question why is it running this hot and what else can I do?

 

Did you perhaps get the wrong sensors? The temp/pressure sensor changed in 99 or 00.....
