I just did this. Had a beautiful custom dual setup including Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 si/do into 2" duals with 4" SS tips. Finally gave up the ghost after 10 years and rusted through.
So I was in a pinch and went to Oreilly's and picked up a Thrush 28" GP and a couple clamps.
First step was to start with just the Magnaflow cat -- WHEEEE!!!! ahh, but too loud.
Threw the Thrush on and it was still quite loud as it exited just under the cab. So I added a few more feet to exit just before the rear axle. Had to get a little creative with hangers and clamps. But for $60 with all parts and doing labor myself, I can't complain.
Impressions: quieter than the Flowmaster which I don't like. But it has a nice smooth rumble to it. Sounds good on revving or starting. Engine seems to spool easier although the kick in the seat when gunning is gone. Seems to have a bit more cruising legs also. So I'll use it for a while until I decide what to do again. I have zero regrets with the Flowmaster and would highly recommend it. In fact, the pipes rusted through but the muffler itself was still fine.
