Default Second Gen blend door

My blend door is shot, and I am replacing it this weekend. Does anyone know of any tips,on how to do it. I really don't want to remove whole dash. Also not fully sure where it is located at. I've read about it being under the dash and somewhat easily accessible with a stubby Phillips head, or a 90 degree one. Any info would be greatly appreciated. This is my first blend door job ever, well anything HVAC at that.

What year is your truck, and what leads you to the conclusion the door is shot?

It's a 99 1500 with the 5.9. When I bought the truck from a dealer they said they ordered the part for it which was the blend door, and when I first go it the HVAC would only blow cold air, then I hit a big pothole and now it only blows heat, so I suspected with the blend door broken, when I hit the pothole... It switched the door from AC to heat.

Does the 99 use the little motor under heater box, or is it still cable controlled??

@OP: take a look at the heater box, under the dash, just to the passenger side of the trans tunnel. Is there a little box there bolted to the bottom of the heater box??

Ah, then I would almost bet that the heater treater will solve the issue, without having to completely disassemble the interior of the truck.

Door is fine. Get the heater treater kit! It's a bit tight contorting upside down with teeny screws but no dash removal!
